Lydia L. Sanders

Lydia "Lockie" Elliot Sanders, 77, of Point Pleasant went home to be with the Lord Saturday, November 3, 2007 at the St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington. Lydia was a member of the First Church of Nazarene of Point Pleasant, a member of the Mason County Retired Teachers Association, and was a retired schoolteacher teaching in Mason and Clay Counties. She was born April 13, 1930 in Clay County to the late Earl Elliott and Clara (Stone) Elliott. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo (Doc) Sanders; a granddaughter, Virginia Elyse Sanders; and two sisters, Bernice Morris and Mary Morris. Surviving are her children, Steve (Mollie) Sanders of Point Pleasant; Wanda (Cecil) Smith of Point Pleasant; Wayne (Pat) Sanders of Point Pleasant; Robert (Connie) Sanders of Southside; Julia (Bob) Messick of Teays Valley; and James (Lora) Sanders of South Point, Ohio; a sister, Louise Moore of Bentree, WV; two brothers, Bill Elliott of Belva, WV and Walter Elliott of Lizemores, WV; 13 grandchildren, Brandi, Mariah, Brook, Erin, Stephen, Zachary, Trenton, Ryan, Jordan, Cade, Landon, Madeline, and Grant; and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at the First Church of Nazarene in Point Pleasant with the Rev. James Ellis officiating. Graveside service and burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Elliott Cemetery in Lizemores, WV. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm. Monday at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, WV and one hour prior to funeral service at the church.
