Loretta Jean Slayton

Loretta Jean Slayton, 83, of Apple Grove, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio. She was born December 31, 1937, in Gallipolis, a daughter of the late Carl Lawrence Wears and Earthley (Wamsley) Wears. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter L. Slayton; sisters, Dimple Pasko and Linda Taylor; a brother, Carl "Juke" Wears; and a great-grandson, Jozee Ryder Craig. Loretta was a homemaker and graduate of Gallia Academy High School Class of 1957. She is survived by sons, Walter L. Slayton Jr. of Southside and Scott E. Slayton of Apple Grove; daughters, Melissa S. Slayton of Apple Grove and Barbara (Irwin) Blessing of Point Pleasant; grandchildren, Walter L. Slayton III, Tanner Wright, Marsha Blessing Connolly and Misty Blessing Presley; great-grandchildren, Elijah Connolly, Caleb Connolly, Autum Craig, Sean Craig, and Allienanna Presley; and a sister, Alta Glover of Southside.
