Lonnie S. Bowling, 87, of Point Pleasant, went home to be with his Lord, Sunday, May 23, 2010 at home. He was born September 7, 1922, in Sandy Hook, Kentucky, a son of the late Douglas Bowling and Sarah Jane (Spencer) Adkins. Lonnie was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Point Pleasant, a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during WWII, and a Kentucky Colonel. He was also a retired master electrician from the Point Pleasant Marine Company a division of Amherst Industries, and was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Bowling. Surviving are his wife, Jackie (Gillam) Bowling of Point Pleasant; one son, David O. Bowling of Buffalo, NY; a granddaughter, Taylor J. Bowling of Cleveland, OH; three sisters, Jean Emshwiller of New Boston, OH, Donna Sue Richards of Columbus, OH, and Sharon Lee (Denny) Thompson of Piketon, OH; two brothers, Issac (Kathryn) Bowling of Cheyenne, WY, and Marvin (Sharon) Bowling of Grove City, OH; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Bowling of Heath, OH,; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Point Pleasant with Pastor James Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant, where military graveside rites will be given by the WV Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m, Tuesday at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, and one hour prior to the service at the church Wednesday.
