Lois (Bennett) Shinn, 86, of Leon, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 5, 2015, at Broadmore Assisted Living at Teays Valley, surrounded by her children. She was born April 13, 1928, in Point Pleasant, a daughter of the late Frank Richard "Keno" Bennett Jr. and Myrtle L. (Simpkins) Bennett. Lois was a member of the Leon Baptist Church and Leon CEOS. She was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1945, West Virginia State College and became an educator in Mason County Schools, during which time she was principal of Leon and Central Elementary Schools, and later retired with more than 50 years of service. After retirement, she enjoyed doing genealogy research, but most of all she loved her road trips to visit with the grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Dayton Shinn; one sister, Barbara Jean Bolton; and two brothers, Paul Ray Bennett and John Leslie Bennett. Lois is survived by her children, Rebecca (Vernon) Keefer of Leon, Roger (Tina Riffle) Shinn of Dallas, NC, Curtis (Ruthann) Shinn of Morgantown and Byron (Tammi) Shinn of West Grove, PA. She was blessed with nine grandchildren, Randall (Delana) Keefer, Paige (Keith) Adkins, Myra Hoffman, Joshua (Lauren) Shinn, Jared (Abbi) Shinn, Katy (Brian) Petak, Micah (Kristy) Shinn, Noah Dayton Shinn and Emily Carpenter; and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Leon Baptist Church in Leon, with Pastor Basil Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Leon Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church Saturday. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Leon Baptist Church, P.O.
