Linda J. Long

Linda J. Long, 74, of Point Pleasant, passed away Monday, January 31, 2022 at home. She was born April 21, 1947, in Milton, WV, a daughter of the late Ray K. Smith and Danna (Deskins) Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kasi Austin; and brothers-in-law, Merrill Davis, Clemit Long and Don Wiggins. Linda was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Point Pleasant.She was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1965 and a retired secretary with 34 yrs. service from Goodyear/Shell. After her retirement in 2000, she loved to work in her flower gardens, read and spend time with her family. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, John Glenn Long of Point Pleasant; daughters and sons-in-law, Staci R. and Gary Newsome of Richmond, IN and Sheri R. and Craig Warner of Nitro, WV; grandchildren, Kara (Brian) Bellew of Richmond, Andrew (Chelsey) Newsome of Indianapolis, IN and Corey Austin of Dunbar, WV; seven great-grandchildren, Cayden, Trey, Ciara, Alinza, Makaylah, Lincoln and Elliott. She is also survived by a sister, Shelia Wiggins of Richmond, VA; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lydia Davis, Brenda Long, Karen and David Jackson, Debra and John Bryant and Ellen and Joe Smith. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2022, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with David Jackson officiating.Burial will follow at the Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant.The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service Saturday at the funeral home.The family requests that all those attending wear a facemask.
