Linda Lou Long, 78, of Gallipolis Ferry, was surrounded by her children when she passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022, at Pleasant Valley Hospital after a short illness. She was born August 9, 1943, in Gallipolis Ferry, a daughter of the late Irvin R. and Nora M. Doss Harper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Sherman "Eddie" Long by a mere one year and 35 days; and brothers, Frank Harper and William Harper. Linda graduated from Point Pleasant High School Class of 1961.She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. To her, family was everything. She lived her life caring for her loved ones. Her favorite past times were gardening, cutting firewood and working outside. She had an unbelievably green thumb and could grow anything. She was a perfectionist, full of energy and always ready to offer advice to her kids and grandkids. She always told us what she thought, whether we wanted to hear it or not.She was a private person, but one would never call her meek, but rather able to speak her mind when necessary. She loved with her whole heart and was generous to a fault. She is survived by three children, Nora Christine Long Franklin of Scottown, OH, Christopher (Shannon) Long of Gallipolis Ferry and Christana L. Long of Gallipolis Ferry; eight grandchildren, Trevor Franklin, Carmen (Rocco) Muriale, Philip Long, Ashlynn (John) Bryan, Jessilynn Hill, Chrissanne Magdalene Long, Connor Franklin and Lawrence Slayton III; great grandson, Arlie Reid Bryan; soon to be great granddaughter, Reagan Cochran; a brother, Clark Harper of Gallipolis Ferry; and her favorite cat, Bella.
