Linda Sue Bates

Linda Sue Bates, 59, of Henderson, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, WV. She was born April 2, 1956, in Pliny, WV, a daughter of the late Leroy Edward Smith and Martha Jane (Mutterspaught) Smith of Henderson. Linda was a member of College Hill Church in Gallipolis Ferry and graduated from Point Pleasant High School Class of 1975. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Ian Christopher Thomas; and one sister, Donna Ann Dewitt. She is survived by her husband, Frank L. Bates of Henderson; mother, Martha Jane Smith of Henderson; daughter, Missy (Chris) Thomas of Leon; and two grandsons, Gabriel Thomas and Ethan Searls of Leon. Also surviving are three sisters, Virginia (Frank) Meadows of Henderson, Wanda Miller of Point Pleasant and Vickie Smith of Henderson; a special niece, LaDonna A. Hart; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Minister Cathy Searls officiating. Burial will follow at Leon Cemetery in Leon. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service Tuesday at the funeral home.
