Leora Faye Barton, 78, of Apple Grove, WV, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 25, 2022 after a 32 year health battle, with Christ by her side, proving daily that miracles still exist. Faye was born on May 2, 1943 to Sadie and Barclay Campbell at home in Maxie, VA. The name of the physician was Dr. Love. While attending Cleveland High School, she excelled in academics, graduating as valedictorian and was phenomenal at basketball where she averaged over 30 points per game, and held several county and school records. After graduation, she began her true career by marrying the love of her life, Don Barton. Faye and Don went on to have three children, Angie, Greg and Mike. Faye was predeceased by her mother and father, Sadie and Barclay Campbell and her brothers Bobby and Ted Campbell. Faye is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Don Barton of Apple Grove, WV; daughter Angie Long and husband Larry of Apple Grove, WV; son Greg Barton and wife Michele of Nitro, WV; and son Mike Barton and wife Kary of Point Pleasant, WV. She was blessed to be the wonderful grandmother to T.J. Deshuk of Apple Grove, WV; Steven Deshuk and wife Johnna of Scott Depot, WV; Tyler Barton and fiancée Francesca of Charleston, WV; Peyton Barton of Frostburg, MD; Josh Barton of Nitro, WV; Isabella Barton of Point Pleasant, WV; Grant Barton of Point Pleasant, WV; Eva Barton of Point Pleasant, WV. Faye was step-grandmother to Chad Long of Patriot, OH; Rachel Litchfield and husband J.C. of Roxboro, NC; and Maddie Lambert of Nitro, WV. She was also the great-grandmother to Brooklynn Deshuk of Apple Grove, WV; Sloan Deshuk of Scott Depot, WV; and our newest addition Emma Deshuk also of Scott Depot, WV. Faye is also survived by her loving sister Betty Yates, her life-long best friend and double first cousin Sally Sutherland, and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and all of her family in Christ. To say that Faye was an incredible woman might be the G.O.A.T. of understatements. Whether you called her honey, mom, Gran, friend, or sister in Christ, it was obvious that she had Jesus in her heart. Her life and marriage with Don were based wholly upon Christ, and her legacy is a living testimony to that. Faye began playing the piano at church at the age of 12 and never stopped. Her life was defined by God’s word as she began teaching Sunday school at age 18, and again, she never stopped. It would be amazing to know how many souls she helped influence to Christ. Praise God. For those who knew her well, you couldn’t really think of Faye without thinking of music. It was a staple in her and her family’s lives. Gathering around the piano, working on programs for church, or simply breaking out in song at the dinner table were all common occurrences. We are blessed to have the memory of each generation dancing to the sound of her playing “Alabama Jubilee”. Her talents were truly God given. Faye dearly love Jesus, her family, church family and friends and demonstrated that with her works. She will be missed by Don, Angie, Greg, Mike and everyone that loved and knew her. She was truly amazing and one of a kind. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Ashton Baptist Church, in Ashton, WV with Pastor Brian May officiating.
