Leo R. Daugherty, 90, of Point Pleasant, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017, at home surrounded by his family. He was born May 5, 1926, in Point Pleasant, a son of the late Roy Daugherty and Naomi Reed (Greer) Daugherty. Leo was a lifetime member of the Hereford Cattle Association and the AFL-CIO. He retired with 41 yrs. service from the New York Central Railroad-Conrail. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Alice E. (Lucas) Daugherty and second wife, Betty J. (Trimble) Daugherty. He was also preceded in death by five sisters, Inez Wilson, Mary See, Adda Dunlap, Bonnie Daugherty and Naomi Allison; four brothers, Hiram W. Daugherty, Leroy Daugherty, John Hugh Daugherty and Fred Daugherty; and a step-son, Bradley Robinson. Leo is survived by his children, Suetta and Howard Bechtle of Leon and Roger and Sandy Daugherty of Point Pleasant; step-children, Sherry Bowles of Belle, WV and Pamela (Tim) Short of Concord, NC; three grandchildren, Howard Lee and Lisa Bechtle of Leon, Joseph and Beth Bechtle of Circleville, OH and Donna and Chris Legg of Leon; and five step-grandchildren, Teresa (Tony) Cooper of Charleston, Hans (Amy) Robinson of Charleston, Nathan (Jessica) Short of Concord, NC, Nicholas Short of Concord, NC and Trena (Shawn) Rhodes of Charleston; and eleven great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Rev. Johnny Hayman officiating. Burial will follow at Kirkland Memorial Garden in Point Pleasant. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service Saturday at the funeral home.
