Lawrence E. Patterson

Lawrence Edward Patterson, 51, of Gallipolis Ferry, WV, died Thursday, September 17, 2015, at home. He was born September 21, 1963, in Point Pleasant, a son of the late William Harrison Patterson and Virginia Ann (Mayes) Patterson. Lawrence had a love for the river industry, having worked as a mate for several companies. He also enjoyed the outdoors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Ann Patterson; four brothers, Howard Allen Patterson, James Patterson, Billy Patterson and Thomas D. "Tucker" Mayes. Surviving are his sons, Jason Patterson (Rachel) of Gallipolis Ferry, Matthew Patterson (Kristina Benson) of Gallipolis Ferry and Joshua Patterson (Ashley) of Gallipolis Ferry; two grandsons, Chase and Nate Patterson of Gallipolis Ferry; four sisters, Patsy McDermitt (Johnny) of Point Pleasant, Molly Coleman of Southside, Bonnie McCoy (Otis "Art")of Henderson and Sissy Hammond (Joe "Sonny") of Henderson; two brothers, Ronnie Mayes of Point Pleasant and Rex Patterson (Oneta) of Henderson and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, September 21, 2015, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Charles Birchfield officiating. Burial will follow at Wyoma Cemetery in Gallipolis Ferry. Visitation will be two hours prior to service.
