Larry R. Blain, 76, of Gallipolis Ferry, went home to be with his Lord Thursday, July 27, 2017, at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, OH. He was born September 6, 1940, in Hogsett, WV, a son of the late James E. Blain and Marcena O. (VanSickle) Blain Denney. Larry was a member of Pleasant View Church at Gallipolis Ferry. He served his country in the United States Army and retired with 25 years service as a mechanic from Appalachian Power Company. Larry was a great family man who will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Ann (Bonecutter) Blain; one sister, Linda Kay Blain; and two brothers, Howard W. Blain and David "Pete" Denney. He is survived by one daughter, Dianna (Billy Beckner) Blain of Gallipolis Ferry; a son, Doug (Nina) Blain of Crown City, OH; one brother, Glenville (Violet) Blain of Gallipolis Ferry; a sister, Alice Geraldine McCallister of Gallipolis, OH; five grandchildren, Cassie (Justin) Beckner, Aaron Blain, Abraham Blain, Noah Blain and Ezra Blain; great-granddaughter, Josie Blain Beckner; and a great-grandson on the way. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Ted Nance and Pastor Howard Blain officiating. Burial will follow at Apple Grove Memorial Gardens, with military graveside rites given by the West Virginia Army Honor Guard and American Legion Post 23 of Point Pleasant. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service Sunday at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Abraham Blain, Noah Blain, Ezra Blain, Billy Beckner, Justin Beckner and Sean Meeks.
