Julia Jacqueline Whittington

Julia Jacqueline (Lucas) Whittington, 91, of Letart, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024, at home.

She was born March 11, 1932, in Point Pleasant, a daughter of the late James Edward Lucas Sr. and Donna Hazel (McGhee) Lucas.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, George Robert "Bob" Whittington; sisters, Anna Mae Donahue, Mary Barnette, Alice Daugherty, Phyllis Clendenin, Reba Jo Maynard and Loretta Gillispie; and brothers, Edward Lucas Jr. and Harry Lucas.

Julia was a member of Main Street Baptist Church and the former Saint Paul United Methodist Church in Point Pleasant.  She was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1951 and former member of the Tu-Endie-Wei Garden Club. Julia and her husband Bob had owned Camp Conley StarCraft Sales in Point Pleasant for many years.

She is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Lou Ann Whittington of Point Pleasant and Gail L. and Walt Roush of Letart; grandsons, Derek (LaDonna) Roush of Letart and Matthew Roush of Point Pleasant; great granddaughter, Shandy Williams of Letart; and a bonus daughter, Karen (Clatworthy) Richey of Cypress, TX.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2024, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Tim Dixon and Rick Handley officiating.  Burial will follow at the Sand Hill Cemetery in Point Pleasant. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service Sunday at the funeral home.
