Joseph "Joe" Randolph Spencer, 65, of Point Pleasant, died Monday, March 1, 2010 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington. He was born May 3, 1944 in Point Pleasant, a son of the late Thomas Carl Spencer and Katherine Mae (Knapp) Spencer. Joe was retired from AKZO Chemical Company as a shipping services operator, was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School and had attended Rio Grande University. He was a member of Minturn Lodge No. 19 A.F. & A. M., Point Pleasant Chapter No. 7 R.A.M., and Franklin Commandery No. 17 all of Point Pleasant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Leach. Surviving are his wife, JoAnna "Jo" L. Spencer of Point Pleasant; three sons, Joseph "Randy" Randolph (Vicky) Spencer II of Gallipolis Ferry, Troy P. Akers of Point Pleasant, and Wyatt L. Akers of West Virginia; one daughter, Jessica L. Harris of Leon; one brother, Stephen Alden (Kimberly) Spencer of New Haven; several grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and great nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant with Pastor Bob Wiseman officiating. Masonic graveside rites will be given by Minturn Lodge No. 19 A.F. & A.M. of Point Pleasant. Burial will follow in the Kirkland Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 1900 Richmond Road, Lexington, Kentucky, 40502.
