John Herbert Harper

John Herbert Harper, 51, of Point Pleasant, died Monday, December 26, 2011 at home. He was born September 22, 1960 in Beckley, WV, a son of the late Robert Lee Harper and Lajena Ruth Barker of Point Pleasant. John enlisted in the Army National Guard April 1978, was ordered to Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, and was medically discharged in 2008 at which time he was working as a technician for the Army National Guard 3664th Maintenance Co. in Eleanor, WV. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Alice J. (Siders) Harper of Point Pleasant; two daughters, Stormy Harper of Point Pleasant and Jessica (Wayne) Hall of Glenwood, WV; two sons, Robert Harper of Point Pleasant and Mikie (Terra) Davis of Glenwood; grandchildren, Ryan and Karria Hall; and a brother, Phil Harper of Point Pleasant. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant with Speakers, Dennis Rayburn and Josh Searls officiating. Burial will follow at the Apple Grove Memorial Gardens in Apple Grove, WV with military graveside services given by the WV Honor Guard and American Legion Post No. 23 of Point Pleasant.
