John E. Thompson

John E. Thompson, 87, of Point Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston, WV.

He was born April 19, 1937, in Logan, WV, a son of the late John Isaac Thompson and Lena (Blankenship) Thompson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna H. Thompson; a son, Michael James Thompson; grandson, Andrew Scott Johnson; four brothers and seven sisters.

John was a graduate of Lenore High School Class of 1956.  He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force and was a member of American Legion Post 23 of Point Pleasant.  He had been the owner of Thompson Appliance Repair in Point Pleasant for over 50 years and retired from Constellium in Ravenswood, WV.

He is survived by his children, Karen (Robert) Bonham of Glenwood, John F. (Denise) Thompson of Point Pleasant, Lisa (Alva) Johnson of Henderson and Bryan (Tammy) Thompson of Point Pleasant; one sister, Freda "Penny" Santos of Omar, WV; and a brother, David Thompson of Hampton, VA.  He is also survived by grandchildren, Jessica (Jared) Long, Leann (Richard) Mays, Lindsay (Jimmy) Stark, Edward ( Megan Wamsley) Johnson, Travis Bonham, Christopher (Lacey) Thompson, Cameron (Samantha) Bonham, Dustin (Heather Queen) Bonham and Melanie (Thomas) Snyder; and great-grandchildren, Payton Mays, Morgan Johnson, Braylon Michael Thompson, Adrienne Mays, Michael Mays, Makayla Mays, Parker Johnson, Sawyer Wamsley, Jayden Stark, Tyler Stark, Cheyenne Stark, Nevaeh Bonham, Legend Bonham, Ahnna Thompson, LaShaun Wattie, Charlie Long and Graham Long.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Jon Cyrus officiating.  Entombment will follow at the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens in Gallipolis, OH, with military graveside honors given by the Air Force Honor Guard and Stewart-Johnson VFW Post 9926 of Mason.  The family will receive friends from 11-1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
