John William "John Bill" Burdette Sr., 75, of Leon, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2016, at home. He was born January 3, 1941, in Leon, a son of the late Arthur Bradbury Burdette and Florence Louise (Schul) Burdette. John Bill was a member of the Leon Baptist Church in Leon and Kanawha Valley Masonic Lodge 36 of Buffalo, WV. He was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1958 and served his country honorably in the United States Army. He retired from AEP Meigs Mines with 30 years service as a heavy equipment operator. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda M. (Livingston) Burdette; three brothers, Charles Arthur Burdette, Stanton E. "Zeke" Burdette and Stanley "Wayne" Burdette; sisters-in-law, Patty Burdette and Jessie Burdette; and brother-in-law, Otmer Livingston. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Amy M. and Howard Mullins of Raleigh, NC; a son and daughter-in-law, John W. Jr. and Misty Burdette of Leon; and four grandchildren, Japheth Burdette, Sarah Burdette, Sydney "Paige" Burdette and Rileigh Mullins. He is also survived by two brothers, Ronald Burdette of Leon and Curtis Burdette of Leon; two sisters-in-law, Juanita Burdette of Leon and Jean Burdette of Point Pleasant; and brother-in-law, Kenneth (Gladys) Livingston Sr. of Leon. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2016, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Fred Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at the Leon Cemetery in Leon.
