Janet Joyce Davis

Janet Joyce Davis, 77, of Southside, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022, at home surrounded by her family. She was born January 10, 1945, in Charleston, WV, a daughter of the late Charles Elvin Paxton and Vola M. (Hunt) Paxton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Billy Joe Davis; brothers, Doyle DeWayne Paxton and Gary Glen Paxton; and sisters, Judy Jane Sheppherd, Karol Katrina Paxton and Adena Ann McCune. Janet was a homemaker, quilter, and canner who loved gardening.She was a loving wife, remarkable mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a special aunt to all of her nieces and nephews. She is survived by three sons, Joseph (JoJo) Davis of Southside, Charles H. Davis of Southside and John Davis of Southside; two daughters, Threasa (Mark) McCarthy of Southside and Barbara Baird of Point Pleasant; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Hospice of Huntington for their care. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Rev. Bert Flora officiating.Burial will follow at the Hambrick Cemetery in Southside.The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service Tuesday at the funeral home.
