James Edmund Wilson

James Edmund Wilson Sr., 72, of Fraziers Bottom, Mason County, WV, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016, after a courageous battle with leukemia. He was born October 1, 1943, in Pennsboro, Ritchie County, a son of the late Joseph Earl Wilson and Mary Jane (Krupp) Wilson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, J. Sue Wilson. Jim was a graduate of Pennsboro High School Class of 1961. He continued his education at West Virginia University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture in 1966 and a master's degree in science in 1972. He was a lifetime farmer who dedicated his life teaching vocational agriculture. He began his teaching career at Pennsboro High School and relocated to Mason County in 1969, where he spent the next 38 years employed by the Mason County Board of Education. The majority of his time was spent teaching Vo-Ag and serving as FFA Advisor at Hannan High School. He also spent time as principal and assistant principal in the county. He served one term on the Mason County Board of Education, his last year being President. Jim was an avid dirt track racer for over 45 years and member of the Dirt Track Racing Roundup Hall of Fame. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Fraziers Bottom. Jim believed in serving his community. He was a member of the Mason County Agriculture Hall of Fame, Mason County Ambulance Authority and the Mason County PSD Board. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James "Tiger" and Kim Wilson of Apple Grove, WV and Michael "Bird" and Tammy Wilson of Sistersville, WV; four grandchildren, Evan, Adam, Megan and Mark Wilson; one brother, Joseph Franklin (Benita) Wilson of Pennsboro; a special niece, Kimberly (Wilson) Jude; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 25, 2016, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Chuck Elkins officiating. Burial will follow at Moore's Chapel Cemetery in Ashton. Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
