James Lee Wamsley Sr.

August 6, 1945 — May 4, 2024

James Lee Wamsley Sr., of Point Pleasant, passed away at home Saturday, May 4, 2024.

He was born August 6, 1945, in Point Pleasant, a son of the late William W. and A. Pauline (Nibert) Wamsley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Wamsley and many uncles and aunts.

Jim was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1964 and worked at the Goodyear, Shell and M & G Plant in Apple Grove, where he retired with 44 years of service.  He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he enjoyed working with the "Sure Shot" archery program and being on the security team.

He loved his family, friends, neighbors, pets, Marshall Sports, hunting, fishing and planting his yearly vegetable garden.

Jim is survived by his wife Vicki with whom he recently celebrated 60 years of marriage; son, Jim Wamsley Jr. of Point Pleasant; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Patrick Evick of Harrisonburg, VA; granddaughters, Megan, Sarah, Taylor and Claire; Uncle Shirl Nibert and wife Dolly of Gallipolis Ferry; in-laws who he considered brothers and sisters; Brody and Susan, Gary and Susanne, Greg and Sherry and Tony and Anna; and special friends, Park and Blanche McKellop and Tracy Ward Fitch.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Ronnie Tote officiating.  Burial will follow at the Suncrest Cemetery in Point Pleasant.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service Thursday at the funeral home.
