James Russell Powell

James Russell Powell, 58, of Point Pleasant, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022, at The Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus, OH. He was born December 30, 1963, in Gallipolis, OH, a son of the late William Russell Powell and Nancy Lee (Marks) Powell of New Haven, WV. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by paternal grandmother, Louise "Gram" Powell. Jim was a graduate of Wahama High School Class of 1982. He was a chemical operator for APG Poly Tech in Apple Grove and a member of the United Steelworkers Local 644L and 5668. He is survived by his wife, Blythe R. (Greer) Powell of Point Pleasant; daughters, Lacey (Marie) Powell of Commercial Point, OH and Katy Powell of Point Pleasant; four grandchildren, Layton, Axton, Staton and Sawyer; a sister, Jane Jones; and one brother, William "Beeb" Powell. He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bobby and Donna Greer; sister-in-law, Ryann Greer (Jeremy Buskirk); brother-in-law, Mark (Barbara) Damron; nephews, Josh Logan, Jason Powell, Brandon Powell, Gage Buskirk, Gatlin Buskirk and Matthew Damron; nieces, Shawnee Jones, Gavyn Buskirk and Rose Snelson; five great nephews and a great niece. There will be no public services. Arrangements are under the direction of Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant.
