James Edward Hatten, 73, of Gallipolis Ferry, passed away Friday, November 18, 2022, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, WV. He was born January 27, 1949, in Kenova, WV, son of the late Glen Dallas Hatten and Eileen Virginia (Morrison) Hatten. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Lester McGraw. Jim is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gloria Ann (Caudill) Hatten; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Susan Hatten of Gallipolis Ferry and Stephen and Jennifer Hatten of Huntington; three grandsons, Garrett Hatten, Connor Hatten and Russell Hatten; sister-in-law, Arminta McGraw of Gallipolis Ferry; and other family members and close friends. Jim was a member of the Ashton Baptist Church in Ashton, WV. He was also a member of the Point Pleasant Gun Club and retired with 26 years service from Akzo Nobel in Gallipolis Ferry. An avid outdoorsman, Jim loved deer hunting and bass fishing. He could often be found tinkering in his garage. He loved God, America, laughing, and steak and potatoes. Jim was a loving husband, proud father, and doting Papaw/Pop Pop. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2022, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Brian May and Pastor Ronald Long officiating. Burial will follow at the Apple Grove Memorial Gardens in Apple Grove. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service Sunday at the funeral home.
