James Worthy "Johnsey" Duncan, 79, of Apple Grove, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, November 25, 2021, at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Point Pleasant. He was born December 5, 1941, in Apple Grove, a son of the late William Worthy "Bill" Duncan and Edna Marie (Roush) Duncan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Duncan; a grandson, Michael Scott Duncan II; brothers, Eugene Duncan, Don Duncan and Charles Lewis Duncan; and sisters and brother-in-law, Stella and Harold Plantz and Edna Logan. Johnsey was a retired coal miner from the Meigs Mine #1 and a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael Scott and Aimee Duncan of Apple Grove; daughter, Sandra Darlene Woods of Apple Grove; stepsons, Larry Pinkerman of St. Petersburg, FL and Steve Pinkerman of Huntington, WV; a stepdaughter, Beth McKnight of Greenup, KY; and three grandchildren, Preston (Jenn) Kensler of Huntington, favorite granddaughter, Allee (Jeff) Burton of Gallipolis Ferry and Johnsey Woods of Apple Grove. He is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Burl and Sharon Duncan of Gallipolis Ferry; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Carl Birchfield of Point Pleasant, Betty and Robert Barker of Glenwood, Vicki and Rod Young of Lesage, WV, and Renie Plantz of Point Pleasant; a sister-in-law, Peggy Duncan of Point Pleasant; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at noon, Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Rev. Mark Mayes officiating.Burial will follow at the Apple Grove Memorial Gardens in Apple Grove.Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral service Wednesday.
