James "Duck" Perry Jeffers, 73, of Southside, passed away Monday, November 2, 2020, at home. He was born June 13, 1947, in Pliny, WV, a son of the late Perry Clayton Jeffers and Ida Mae (Hudson) Jeffers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Janet Louise Watson and Agnes Lynn Ferguson; and three brothers, Noah Clinton Jeffers, John Roger Jeffers and Dearl Eugene Jeffers. Duck was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Southside. He was a carpenter by trade and member of Union Local #1159 in Point Pleasant. He is survived by his wife Frances Lucille (Litchfield) Jeffers whom he married September 8, 1973; daughters, Mandy (J.P.) Patterson of Point Pleasant, Carrie Jeffers of Southside, Sara (Michael) Roach of Leon and Tara Jeffers of St. Albans, WV; grandchildren, Michael (Darian) Patterson, Clayton (Hailey) Patterson, Ava Roach, Jaxsen Roach and Gunnar Roach; and a great granddaughter, Paisley Patterson. He is also survived by a brother, Allen L. (Irene) Jeffers of Southside; five sisters, Doris (Danny) Stanley of Southside, Debbie (Roger) McDade of Southside, Sarah Katherine (Larry) Leport of Henderson, Karen Sue (Rodney) Dill of Southside and Terry Jean Mundell of Milton, WV; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2020, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor David Radcliff officiating. Burial will follow in the Harmony Cemetery at Southside. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service Friday at the funeral home. Social distancing will be observed and face masks are required.
