James Randall Baird, 71, of Apple Grove, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born June 24, 1938 in Apple Grove, a son of the late Charles A. Baird Sr. and Iva (Bush) Baird. Randall was a retired foreman for the West Virginia Division of Highways (Mason County) and attended the Millstone Church in Apple Grove. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Cora (Higginbotham) Baird; one sister, Vonceil Bush; a brother, William "Bill" Baird; and a granddaughter, Heather Baird. Surviving are his wife Bonnie (Flora) Baird of Apple Grove; one daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and Steve Rainey of Gallipolis Ferry; one son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Marti Baird of Southside; three grandchildren, Kacee Rainey, Jamie Rainey, and Michael (Courtney) Baird; one great grandson, Aiden Baird; and one step granddaughter, Sara Moats. Also, surviving are six stepchildren, Jake Carl (Connie) Christy of Southside, Carolyn (Mark) Kissamore of Charleston, Charles (Theresa) Christy of Apple Grove, Barbie (Roy) Leonard of Apple Grove, David (Vicki) Christy of Southgate, Michigan, and Brenda (Rick) Kinniard of Apple Grove; one brother, Charles Lee (Velma) Baird of Southside; a sister, Jean (Bob) Arnold of Point Pleasant; 10 step grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 3, 2010 at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant with Rev. Lee Baird, Rev. Jerry Colburn, Rev. David Washington, and Pianist Bill Rainey. Burial will follow in the Hambrick Cemetery at Southside. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
