James A. "Jim" Capehart, 78, of Point Pleasant, passed away Saturday September 19, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 8, 1936, in Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late Frank Howard Capehart Jr. and Janet (Slater) Capehart. Jim was a lifelong resident of Point Pleasant and was actively involved with the community through his activities with the Lions Club, Eastern Star, Masons and Heights United Methodist Church where he served as choir director. Jim was a retired mill operator from Kaiser Aluminum. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret "Margi" A. Capehart; a daughter, Valerie Lynn Capehart; and one brother, William R. Capehart. Jim is survived by his son, James Capehart II of Columbus, OH; daughter, Pamela (Joe) Cullen of Leon, WV; two grandsons; two great grandchildren; brother, Frank Howard (Linda) Capehart III of Point Pleasant; sister-in-law, Sonja Capehart of Florida; and Jim's longtime special friend, Golda Hess and her daughter Robin of Point Pleasant; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at Heights United Methodist Church in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Charles Marker officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Hill Cemetery in Gallipolis, OH. The family will receive friends from 11-1 p.m., Wednesday, at the church prior to the funeral service.
