Jackie B. Stevens, 73, of Gallipolis Ferry, went to be with the Lord after a very short illness, Friday afternoon June 22, 2012, at Ohio State University Medical Center. He was born April 6, 1939, in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Ogden B. Stevens and Anna Laura (Bowers) Stevens. Jackie attended Pleasant View Church in Gallipolis Ferry. He loved his Lord and did not hesitate to tell anyone who would listen. He took pride in serving his country in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960, with a tour of duty in Germany. He retired from Shell Chemical with 33 years service, graduated from Point Pleasant High School with the Class of 1957, and was a 32 degree Mason and member of Minturn Lodge No. 19 A.F. & A.M. of Point Pleasant. Jackie is survived by his loving family which includes, his wife of 53 years, Phyllis Nibert Stevens; three daughters, Lesa Withers of Athens, OH, Lora (Larry) Hesson of Washington, WV, and Susan (Rob)Hauman of Culpeper, VA; and four grandchildren, TJ Withers, Samuel Jay Hesson, Sarah Beth Hesson and Marshall Robert Hauman. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, June 25, 2012 at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant with Pastor Gary Warner and Pastor Ted Nance officiating. Burial will follow in the Beale Chapel Cemetery with former Pastor Charles Moses officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. The family suggest in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to: Pleasant View Church, Building Fund, 365 Henrys Road, Gallipolis Ferry, WV 25515.
