Jack Wheeler

Jack Wheeler, 78, of Point Pleasant, went home to be with the Lord Monday, Feb. 9 at Holzer Medical Center. He was a member of the New Hope Bible Baptist Church in Point Pleasant where he served as a church trustee, was retired from Kaiser Aluminum Co. as a millwright after 38 years service and was also a retired member of the West Virginia National Guard. Jack was born March 10, 1930 in Summersville, WV to the late Edward Wheeler and Myrtle (Nutter) Wheeler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Hilda McClung and two sisters, Maxine Dennison and Joanne Boley. Surviving are his wife, Reta Kay (Graham) Byer Wheeler of Point Pleasant who he married June 14, 1975; his children, Edward and Glenda Wheeler of Anamosa, Iowa, Sherlyn and Mike Dunn of Grove City, Ohio, and Karen and Shane Circle of Racine, Ohio; step children, Teresa and Rusty Pennington of Sarasota, Florida, Paul and Pam Pickens of Point Pleasant, Shane and Dionne Byer of Gallipolis, Greg and Jan Byer of Point Pleasant, and John Byer of Paducah, Kentucky; seventeen grandchildren and step grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Also surviving are nine sisters, Phyllis Kidd of St. Albans, WV, Shirley (Jessie) Boling of Twinsburg, OH, Helene (Tony) DiFranco of Broadview Heights, OH, Mary Lou (Keith) Ferrell of South Charleston, WV, Teresa Raider of Andersonville, TN, Sharon (Ernest) Winter of Medina, OH, Margie (Chuck) Allomong of LaGrange, OH, Sandy (Kenneth) Hess of Summersville, WV, and Janet Babka of Riverside, California; one brother, Harold Wheeler of Manchester, TN: a special friend, Don Gillispie; and several nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his dog and loyal companion Evita. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2009 at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home with Pastor Dean Warner officiating. Burial will follow in Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant, where military graveside rites will be given by American Legion Post No. 23 of Point Pleasant.
