Dr. Jack A. Buxton, 93 of Point Pleasant, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 12, 2021, at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born November 11, 1927, in Gallipolis, Ohio, the son of the late Fred H. Buxton and Grace A. Buxton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his late wife Mary Ann Buxton, whom he married on September 17, 1949. Dr. Jack A. Buxton, Optometrist, was a pillar of the community serving families for over 43 years while in practice.For over 60 years, he supported the American Optometric Association and was a loyal Member of the Point Pleasant Rotary Club, never missing a meeting.One of his proudest accomplishments was being named the Founding Father of Pleasant Valley Hospital on November 20, 2019. He is survived by his three children, Jan B. Lilly, Dr. Bradly J. Buxton and Captain Brian S. Buxton; five grandchildren, Dr. Myra D. Hoffman, Dr. Amber B. Lilly and husband David Pierce, Dr. Brittany Buxton Pamplin and husband John Pamplin, Brandy Buxton and Deanna Abercrombie; and six great-grandchildren, Cameron Hoffman, MacKenzie Hoffman, Bailey Nelson, Joshua Pierce, Benjamin Pierce and Samuel Pierce. Dr. Buxton was laid to rest at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant, with Minister Pete Allinder officiating.Military graveside honors were given by the United States Navy Honor Guard.Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant was in charge of arrangements.
