Howard Lee Crawford Sr.

Howard Lee Crawford Sr., 95, of Point Pleasant, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Rivers Health in Point Pleasant.

He was born September 20, 1928, in Groveport, Ohio, a son of the late William Wayne Crawford and Allie Rebecca (Neville) Crawford.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marceia J. Crawford; a daughter, Julie R. Glenn; grandson, William Jeffrey Crawford; brother, John Wesley Crawford; and sisters, Dorothy Plants, Barbara Harbour and Margie Wisser.

Howard was a retired riverboat pilot for the Ohio River Company with 34 years service. He served his country honorably in the United States Army, was an avid hunter and a member of the West Virginia Bowhunters Association, North American Hunting Club and the NRA.

He is survived by a son, Howard L. "Buddy" Crawford Jr. and wife Shela of Gallipolis Ferry; daughter, Karen L. Wall of Wheeling, WV; brother, William "Bill" (Margaret) Crawford of Apple Grove; six grandchildren, Randall "Willie" Bright Jr., Nicole Wall, Michael Glenn, Shane Glenn, Brent (Tricia) Matthews and Zach (Katey) Crawford; five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Kenny Long and Jimmy Ashton.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 23, 2023, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Ted Nance officiating.  Burial will follow at the Beale Chapel Cemetery in Apple Grove.  The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service Saturday at the funeral home.
