Hisae "Rosie" Durst

Our beloved Mom, Granny, Mama and Mamasan, Hisae "Rosie" Durst, 95, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at her home with her family by her side.  She was born on August 11, 1927, in Kyoto, Japan to Kaichiro and Reiko Nakajima.

She enjoyed life to the fullest with her greatest pleasure of spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She had many others over the years that referred to her as "Mama" too.

Rosie was a member of Jackson Avenue Baptist Church and loved those whom she worshiped with.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Paul Durst whom she was married to for 46 years; and her precious son, Dr. Paul Ray Durst.

Rosie is survived by her children, Susan and Joe Nott of Point Pleasant and Carol Durst of Proctorville, OH; sister-in-law, Sally Smith of Point Pleasant; her grandsons, Jeremy and Trista Nott, Rob Durst and Steve Carter, Jesse and Jessica Nott, Eric and Jessica Durst and Joshua Nott; and her great grandchildren whom she adored, Joleigh, Jocelyn, Jenna and Jerah Nott; Parker and Connor Nott; Sydney and Sawyer Durst; Makayla Nott; and Evelyn Nott.

The family would like to thank the Hospice workers Jennifer and Christy who took excellent care of Mom, Pleasant Valley Hospital and Dr. Robert Tayengco and her current caregiver Addison Hughes who she grew to love in such a short time.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2023, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home, with Pastor Joe Nott officiating.  Burial will follow at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant.  Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
