Herbert F. "Herb" Sayre

Herbert Franklin "Herb" Sayre, 77, of Milton, died Friday, January 1, 2016, at home. He was born April 29, 1938, in Point Pleasant, a son of the late John Paul Sayre and Margaret Thelma (McMillian) Sayre. Herb was a member of the 3664 Ordnance Co. of Point Pleasant, a veteran of the Army National Guard of WV and retired from the American Electric Power Company. He was a 1956 graduate of Point Pleasant High School. He enjoyed music and was a member of several bands for which he played the saxophone. He was very proud of his entire family and enjoyed texting each of them. He was an expert storyteller and a good-hearted person with a great sense of humor. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Barbara Ann (Pullins) Sayre of Milton; one daughter and son-in-law, Cathy Lee and Darrell Jordan of Tifton, GA; two grandchildren, Kelli Christine Jordan and Brian Christopher Jordan both of Athens, GA; a special friend, Larry King, who he fished with in the mountains of West Virginia for years; and one grand dog, Sophie. A graveside service and burial will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at Evergreen Cemetery in Letart with family and friends speaking. Procession will leave the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Little Victories Animal Rescue, 3589 Wire Branch Road, Ona, WV 25545.
