Helen Virginia Long

Helen "Virginia" Pyles Long, 95, of Gallipolis Ferry, passed away Wednesday December 9, 2020, at Pleasant Valley Hospital. She was born August 17, 1925, in Gallipolis Ferry, a daughter to the late Asa Utley Henry and Mary Evelyn (Putney) Henry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Charles W. Pyles Jr and Woodrow Long; a granddaughter, Rhonda Toney; four sisters, Mahala Jones, Margaret Yester, Emma Fisher, and Yvonne Short; and two special nieces. Virginia was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School, Class of 1942, member of Faith Gospel Church in Gallipolis Ferry and retired from Artleys of Gallipolis, OH. She is survived by three sons, Fred (April) Pyles of Gallipolis Ferry, Bob (Marybeth) Pyles of Gallipolis Ferry, and David (Connie) Pyles of Dickson, TN; four grandchildren, Ashley Alan (Julie) Pyles of Barboursville, WV, Natalie Lynn (Josie) Sargent of Gallipolis Ferry, Erin (Sean Rickard) Pyles of Point Pleasant, and Jason (Marian) Pyles of Elkins, WV; and six great grandchildren, Daisy and Delilah Sargent, Clara and Chelsea Pyles, Asa and Amelia Pyles, and Noah Rickard and Cayden Dennewitz. She is also survived by two sisters, Geraldine Adams of Gallipolis Ferry, and Maxine Johnson of Rapid City, South Dakota. A graveside service and burial will be 1 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2020, at Beale Chapel Cemetery in Apple Grove, with Rev. Joe Hammack and Pastor Dean Warner officiating. Social distancing will be observed and face masks are required. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faith Gospel Church in care of Charlie Jones, P.O. Box 116, Gallipolis Ferry, WV 25515 for Grace Ministries. Grace Ministries is a mission in India founded by George Robert (Bob) Crow. He also founded Faith Gospel Church. Grace Ministries is active in starting new churches in India, giving out bibles, translating the bible into different languages and winning souls for Jesus.
