Harriett G. Way

February 13, 1948 — February 8, 2024

In a snow drift outside the hospital Harriett couldn’t wait a few more steps to be born to Charlotte and Anthony Brancato in Hackensack, New Jersey Friday, February 13, 1948. She was the middle child of three daughters, older sister Lorraine Gilbert in Poway, California and younger sister Lynda Kmet in Crossville, Tennessee.

Settling down on a farm in West Virginia, she made a life as a dedicated wife to her husband Bob. Harriett also became a loving, nurturing mother to their son Matthew, foster children Eddie & Shiela Blakeman and favorite niece Terri.

After graduating from South Glens Falls High School in South Glens Falls, New York, Harriett joined the United States Airforce trained Cryptography attaining the rank of Sergeant.  Earning her BA in Education from WVU Parkersburg in 1995 added to her teaching credentials. She substituted in both Jackson and Mason County School District and later taught and trained those incarcerated in the local prisons and jails, carrying her faith with her into the facilities.

Harriett embraced everything in life from working the farm, her pilot’s license and most importantly, her faith in Jesus Christ. The many hats she wore from various jobs throughout the years also enabled her to bring many to be saved by our almighty God.

With the help of Hospice and attending loving family members at her home, she proceeded into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ February 8, 2024.
