Harold "Rick" Birchfield

Harold "Rick" Birchfield, 58, of Southside, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Point Pleasant surrounded by his loving family. "Losing his courageous battle with cancer." He was born February 20, 1959, in Point Pleasant, a son of the late Harold Birchfield and Nancy E. (Waugh) Birchfield of Henderson. Rick was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1978 and was employed by the West Virginia Department of Transportation in Mason County. He was an avid turkey and deer hunter and a hard working man who loved the outdoors. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sandra S. (Boggess) Birchfield; his daughter, Samantha Rose Birchfield of Southside; two sisters, Ruth E. Baird of Southside and Betty L. Sergent of Henderson; one brother, Ronnie Lee (Paula) Birchfield of Southside; and several nieces and nephews that he loved very much. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Bert Flora officiating. Burial will follow at the Birchfield Cemetery in Southside. The family will received friends two hours prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Birchfield, Justin Hughes, Daniel Hughes, Travis Baird, Todd Sergent and Colby Litchfield. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Shull, Lee Shull and Buddy Mattox.
