Harold E. Bowman

Harold E. Bowman, 89, of Leon, died Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at home. He was born October 27, 1926, in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Elwood Bowman and Pearl (Stephens) Bowman. Harold was a member of Leon United Methodist Church for 57 years. He had served as a member of the church trustee board, and was treasurer and board member of Leon Cemetery. He retired from the Kyger Creek Power Plant after 35 years service. Harold was also a member of Minturn Lodge No. 19 A.F. and A.M., Franklin Commandery No. 17 Knights Templar of Point Pleasant, and Gallipolis Shrine Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Nancy R. Bowman; three sisters, Sarah Grimes, Florence Bowman, and Audrey Bowman; and a nephew, Douglas Grimes. He is survived by his son, Mark E. Bowman; twin grandsons, Elijah E. Bowman and Caleb D. Bowman all of Leon; several nieces and nephews; friends and caregivers Glenvor and Pam Durst and Kay Errett; and many wonderful friends. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, December 26, 2015, at Leon United Methodist Church in Leon, with Rev. Bill Crawford officiating. Burial will follow at Leon Cemetery in Leon. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the funeral service Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to be made to: Leon United Methodist Church or Leon Volunteer Fire Department.
