Granville Douglas "Pete" Mitchell

Granville Douglas "Pete" Mitchell, 66, of Henderson, was a faithful servant of the Lord, who endured to the end and went home to receive his reward in Heaven on Saturday, September 26, 2020, at his home surrounded by all of his family. He was born September 16, 1954, in Point Pleasant, a son of the late Douglas "Pete" Mitchell and Betty Jane (Likens) Mitchell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, William Bill Moore of Henderson. Pete loved going to church and was a faithful attendee of Longview Community Church. He was a retired carpenter/technician for Southwestern Community Action of Huntington and in his spare time enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching his two favorite teams, the Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeyes. Pete is survived by and was a faithful husband to his wife, Sandra Sue (Williamson) Mitchell for 47 years. He is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Summer Mitchell of Point Pleasant; grandchildren, Brittany (Steven) Brewer of Point Pleasant and Levi Mitchell of Point Pleasant; a great-grandchild, Jayce Brewer; sisters, Carolyn (Robert) Wamsley of Gallipolis Ferry, Mary Jane (Charles) Fisher of Delaware, OH, Gail (Dusty) Chapman of Gallipolis Ferry and Shelia Moore of Henderson; multiple nieces and nephews; and a host of friends that loved him dearly. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Doug Mitchell and Pastor Truman Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Lone Oak-Rogers Cemetery in Gallipolis Ferry. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Social distancing will be observed and face masks are required.
