Gladys Mildred (Wright) Plants, 83, of Point Pleasant went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at her home after a long illness with her family by her side. She was a homemaker and had worked for several years at Harris Steak House and the Mason County Jail. Gladys was born February 3, 1926 in Fraziers Bottom, daughter of the late Willard A. Wright and Eva Lena (Doss) Wright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Gary Plants; one daughter, Kimberly Plants; one granddaughter, Donna Glenn; one grandson, J.L. McCoy; one son-in-law, Eddie Powers; one niece, Donna Garten; two brothers, Raymond Wright and Kenneth Wright; two sisters, Eva Dean Meadows and Violet Wright. Surviving is her husband, Walter Robert Plants of Somerset, KY and her companion, Eddie Blakeman of Point Pleasant; four daughters, Faye Powers of Bidwell, OH, Carolyn (Jack) McCoy of Henderson, Jean (Merdia) Stover of Apple Grove, Cheryl (Bob) Jordan of Point Pleasant; four sons, Kenny (Linda) Plants of Gallipolis Ferry, Keith (Alice) Plants of Ashton, Joe (Patsy) Plants of Gallipolis Ferry and Mike (Lynn) Plants of Huntington; four children of Eddie Blakeman, Rick Thomas of Bidwell, OH, Kathy Jones and Shelly Blakeman both of Mercerville, OH and Eddie Blakeman Jr. of Henderson; two sisters, Hazel (Bud) Dunn of Southside, Lucille Meadows of Elyria, OH; one sister-in-law, Jean Wright of Milton; 40 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Barton Chapel Church in Apple Grove wtih Pastor Charlie Hargraves officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
