George C. Culver, 91, of Point Pleasant, died Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Braxton County Memorial Hospital in Gassaway, WV. He was born March 27, 1919 in Meadville, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Carl Dewey Culver and Olive (DeReimer) Culver. George was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 39 of Clarksville, Indiana, and the Pipefitters Local No. 208 of Denver, Colorado. He had worked as a piping superintendent in the building of power plants. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Mary Virginia Culver; three sons, Duke, Robert, and George Sam Culver; three brothers, Leo, Owen, and Junior Culver; and a sister, Mabel Lipton. Surviving are his wife, Norma (Woodall) Culver of Point Pleasant; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Ute Culver of Point Pleasant; one stepson Dorliss Bright of Orlando, Florida; a stepdaughter, Kathryn (Charles) Collins of Atlanta, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Katie Culver of Point Pleasant, Shaun Lemponen of Point Pleasant, Ann Samek of Denver, Colorado, Teri Culver-Ladner of Denver, Colorado, Nici Ball of Denver, Colorado, Wyatt Culver of Augusta, Georgia, Mary Rachel Culver of Asheville, North Carolina, and Charlotte Foley of Denver, Colorado; 7 step grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Richard Culver of Dayton, Ohio, Bernie Culver of Amherst, Ohio, and Stanley Culver of Longmont, Colorado; and a stepbrother, Jerry Culver of Bradenton, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant with Rev. Wilmer "Bud" Richmond officiating. Burial will follow in the Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant where Masonic graveside services will be given by Minturn Lodge No. 19 A.F. and A.M. of Point Pleasant.
