Gene R. "Pete" Hern Jr.

Gene R. "Pete" Hern Jr., 64, of Point Pleasant, passed away Monday, October 31, 2022, at Doctors Hospital OhioHealth in Columbus, OH. He was born July 3, 1958, in Charleston, WV, the son of the late Gene R. Hern and Doma J. (Pratt) Hern of Point Pleasant. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Richard L.Young. Pete was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1978. He attended Green Acres for several years, trained at the West Virginia Rehabilitation Center in Institute, WV and retired as a host with 15 years service from Wendy's in Point Pleasant. In addition to his mother Doma, he is survived by a sister, Erma J. Young of Point Pleasant; nephews, Jason (Alicia) Taylor and Matthew (Chelsea) Ridgway; a step-nephew, Josh (Mary Beth) Young; great-nieces and great-nephew, Peyton Taylor, Preston Taylor, Paige Taylor, Allison Ridgway and Ayla Ridgway; and step-great-nephew and step-great-nieces; Emma, Aden and Ava Young. A graveside service and burial will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the New Lone Oak Cemetery in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Mark Oliver officiating.
