Gay Otis Meeks, 83, of Gallipolis Ferry, passed away Monday, February 10, 2020, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington. He was born June 29, 1936, in Gallipolis Ferry, a son of the late Charles Samuel Meeks and Ruth Belle (Jones) Meeks. Gay was a retired welder from American Car and Foundry of Huntington, WV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Meeks Errett; one son, Charles Meeks; granddaughter, Tasha Meeks Sturgeon; great-grandson, David Allen Meeks; two sisters, Marie Henry and Bernice Glassburn; and four brothers, Marlin Meeks, Richard Meek, Gerald Meeks and James Meek. He is survived by his children, Gay "Sissy" Davis, Bessie Meeks, Gayla Bonecutter and Nathaniel (Ashley) Meeks all of Gallipolis Ferry; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; godson, Levi Samuel Meeks of Gallipolis Ferry; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2020, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Rev. JoAnn Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in the Meeks Family Cemetery at Gallipolis Ferry. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
