Gary D. Roark, 74, of Point Pleasant, passed away after a short illness at home Saturday, September 18, 2021, with his family by his side. He was born January 24, 1947, in Gallipolis, OH, a son of the late Curtis Merritt and Virginia Maxine (Dickey) Roark. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Paul Roark; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ronald and Elinor White. Gary was a graduate of Gallia Academy High School Class of 1965.He served his country in the United States Army and retired with 38 yrs. service from the Philip Sporn Power Plant in New Haven. He is survived by his wife, whom he had a loving relationship with for many years, Deborah R. (White) Roark; a daughter, Andrea Leigh Hesson and husband Craig of Point Pleasant; grandchildren, Charles Brady Hill and Kyle Montgomery Hill; step-grandchildren, Meghann (Hesson) Diemer and husband Dane of California and Cara Smith and husband, Dylan of North Dakota; and three step-great-grandchildren, Benjamin Diemer, Henry Smith and Iris Smith. A private graveside service and burial will be held Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at the Forest Hills Cemetery in Letart, with Rev. Carl "Boxer" Swisher officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant.
