Gary Dennis Payne Sr.

Gary Dennis Payne Sr., 78, of Apple Grove, died Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV. He was born August 20, 1940, in Columbus, OH, a son of the late Dennis Payne and Sibyl Arlee (Hudson) Payne Martin. Gary served his country honorably in the United States Army for 20 years, was a member of American Legion Post No. 23 of Point Pleasant, Military Officers Association of America and past member of the Mason County E.M.S Board. He also owned and operated Gary's Electric Services of Mason County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Carol (Mayse) Payne; maternal grandparents, H.S. Hudson and Maudie Francis (Mays) Hudson. Gary is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Payne II and wife Tammy of Milton and John Kevin Payne and wife Myra of Tega Cay, SC; six grandchildren, Savannah Carol Payne and Summer Dawn Payne of Milton, and Judy Catherine Payne, Lauren Madison Payne, Olivia Hope Payne and Kaila Paige Sigman, all of Tega Cay, SC; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Sharon Payne of Apple Grove and Jackie and Janet Payne of Apple Grove; also the loving mother of three of Gary's granddaughters, Angela (Hoffman) Payne. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2018, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Ernie Bowser officiating. Burial will follow at Moore's Chapel Cemetery in Ashton where military graveside rites will be given by the West Virginia Army Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service Monday at the funeral home.
