Garland Glen Arrington

Garland G. "Hot Rod" Arrington, 94, of Gallipolis Ferry, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024, at his home.

He was born August 6, 1929, in Gallipolis Ferry, a son of the late George J. Arrington and Lillian (Moss) Arrington.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline "Jackie" Arrington; daughter, Linda C. Nibert; brother, Mark Arrington; sister, Ruth Arrington; and nephews, Bucky and Joey Arrington.

Garland was a lifetime farmer and had worked for the Mason County Schools and the West Virginia Department of Highways.  He was an avid fast pitch softball player who played first base and he loved the Mason County Fair.

He is survived by his children, Mike (Kathy) Arrington of Gallipolis Ferry, David (Teenie) Arrington of Gallipolis Ferry and Jenny (Johnny) Taylor of Gallipolis, OH; and a son-in-law, Bobby Nibert of Gallipolis Ferry.  He is also survived by grandchildren, Matthew (Tara) Arrington, Milinda (Shawn) Richards, Joseph (Amy) Arrington, Kary (Mike) Barton and Jay Arrington; great-grandchildren, Briar (Emily) Arrington, Dylan Richards, Colton Arrington, Maggie Richards, Isabella Barton, Grant Barton, Madisyn Arrington, Eva Barton, Kylie Arrington and Tristyn Arrington; great-great-grandchildren, Brylee Arrington, Gavin Arrington and Wrenlee Arrington; special nephew, Skip Arrington; special cousin, Robert "Bob" Moore and special friend, Sandy Gail Oliver.

A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Ronnie Cremeans and Myron Miller officiating.  Burial will follow at Beale Cemetery in Apple Grove.  Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
