Freda Lois (Lee) Wood

Freda Lois (Lee) Wood, 92, of Henderson, WV went home to be with her Lord Friday, February 5, 2010. She was born December 26, 1917 in Henderson, a daughter of the late Fred Lee and Isabelle May (Hern) Lee. Freda was a woman of integrity, with a strong faith in the Lord, and was loved by her family and many friends. She was a lifetime member of Concord Baptist Church in Henderson, had attended Main Street Baptist Church and Heights United Methodist Church with her daughters, and was a former employee of Carolina Lumber Co. with 30 years service, and had worked for 14 years for Fisher's Department Store. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thornton L. Wood; brothers, Dale Hern Lee, Lewis Delmus Lee and Dallas Lee; one sister, Dymple J. Ferrell; one grandson, Chad Michael L'Archer; and a granddaughter-in-law, Lisa Harris. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Erewanna (Dwight) Jeffrey of Point Pleasant, Lois (Thomas) Bumgarner of West Columbia, Alice (Anthony) Darst of Henderson, and Beverly Hauder of Henderson; one foster son, Gilbert Ray (Maggie) Plants of Staffordsville, KY; 13 grandchildren, George Robert "Woody" II (Alice) Plants of Coshocton, OH, Dephony (Ben) Boring of North Canton, OH, Kevin (Liza) Jeffrey of Prince Edward Island, Canada, Dwight (Kim) Jeffrey of Marietta, GA, Lori (Steve) Miller of Greensboro, NC, Zack Harris Jr. of West Columbia, Brad (Ana) Bumgarner of Madison, NC, Norris Bumgarner of West Columbia, Roger Bumgarner of Letart, Barbara (Jim) Chastain of New Bern, NC, Shawn Darst and companion Angel Wright of Pt. Pleasant, Ryanne Wright of Euless, TX, and Tammy Kostival of Addison, OH; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. A celebration of Freda's life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, February 8, 2010 at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant with her grandson, Brother Woody Plants, Pastor Janice Smith, Pastor Rick Tench, and Dr. Richard Sargent officiating. Burial will follow at the Concord Cemetery in Henderson. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m., Sunday February 7 at the funeral home.
