Freda J. Akers, 92, of Point Pleasant, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, August 20, 2012 at Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born February 26, 1920 in Clifton, WV, a daughter of the late Ernest "Plug" Knopp and Ruth (Gibbs) Knopp. Freda attended The Church of Nazarene in Gallipolis, OH and had worked at Gerlach Manufacturing, Lakin Hospital and was a homemaker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Rev. Willis Knopp and infant brothers, William and Edward Knopp. She is survived by two daughters, Pauletta Burris of Columbus, OH and Geneie (Ronald) Plantz of Gallipolis, OH; six grandchildren, Kelly (Paul) Newman of Columbus, OH, Mark (Jill) Burris, Kevin (Sandi) Plantz, Brian Plantz, Michelle (Ryan) Young and Rachel (Matt) Champlin all of Gallipolis, OH; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant with Dr. James Wagner and Pastor Gene Harmon officiating.
