Francis Lee Dunlap

Francis Lee Dunlap, 83, of Point Pleasant, WV, passed away Friday, August 5, 2022, at St. Mary's Medical Center, in Huntington, WV. He was born May 9, 1939, to the late Jewell Dunlap and Grace (Carr) Dunlap. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Loretta June Cooper; and many other relatives. Francis served his country in the U.S. Army and was discharged on May 31, 1962. He had worked at the Foote Mineral Company until it closed, then went to work at the Goodyear Chemical Plant and later retired from Shell Chemical. He loved fishing, hunting and competition bench rest shooting. He will be missed by many friends that he met while enjoying the sports that he loved. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia (McGraw) Dunlap; son, Jeff (Julie) Dunlap of Gallipolis, OH; daughter, Sherry (Ron) Roush of Ravenswood, WV; grandchildren, David Matheny, Kolt Matheny, Katie Houck and Bobby Dunlap; great grandchildren, Kaiden Matheny, Aubree Matheny, Hailey Matheny, Gavin Matheny, Jozie Houck and Jerra Houck; a sister, Juanita (Rankin) McDaniel; and brother-in-law, John Cooper. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Doug Hendrixson officiating. Burial will follow at the Suncrest Cemetery in Point Pleasant, where military graveside honors will be given by the WV Army Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
