Ernest "Junior" Leport

Ernest "Junior" Leport, 81, of Henderson, died Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Pleasant Valley Hospital. He was born January 12, 1931 in Henderson, WV, a son of the late Rabbi Leport and Virginia Harriett (Bartrum) Leport. Junior was a member of Concord Baptist Church and a retired supervisor with West Virginia Department of Highways. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lila Rose (Likens) Leport; one daughter, Cheryl Lynn Leport; a son, Ernest Michael Leport Sr.; one sister, Genevieve Lee; and four brothers, Arlee, Steven, Clifford, and William Leport. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Ann and John Robinson of Henderson, WV; five grandchildren, Angela Thompson of Point Pleasant, Jenie (Kevin) Hickman of Point Pleasant, Toby (Joanie) Leport of Henderson, Mikie Leport of Henderson, and Heather (Mike) Cottrill of Henderson; 16 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; two sisters, Loretta (James) Barnette of Gallipolis Ferry, and Geraldine (Delbert) Putney of Gallipolis Ferry; and two brothers, Gregory (Diane) Leport of Henderson, and John (Sue) Leport of Henderson. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, February 3, 2012 at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant with Pastor Bert Flora officiating.
