Emogene "Emmie" Rainey

Emogene "Emmie" Rainey, 91, of Gallipolis Ferry, died Monday, February 22, 2016, at home. She was born June 28, 1924, in Gallipolis Ferry, a daughter of the late Ora Opal Roberts and Vivian (Rulen) Roberts. Emmie was a lifelong member of Jordan Baptist Church in Gallipolis Ferry and graduated from Point Pleasant High School Class of 1942. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Everett Rainey; two sons, Jerry Rainey and Ronnie D. Rainey; a sister, Bonnie Nutter; and three brothers, George O. Roberts, James "Jim" Roberts and infant brother, Rex Roberts. She is survived by two daughters-in-law, Sally Rainey of Point Pleasant and Juanita L. Rainey of Gallipolis Ferry; four grandchildren, Crystal (Chuck) Sanders, Jim Ed Rainey, David Rainey, and Wendy Rainey Ritchie; and one great-granddaughter, Maigen Rainey. A funeral service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, February 25, 2016, at Jordan Baptist Church, with Pastor Bo Burgess officiating. Burial will follow at Lewis Cemetery in Gallipolis Ferry. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant.
