Earnest M. "Mac"  McCarty Sr.

Mac broke free of the mortal body that had trapped him for the past several years and entered into his heavenly kingdom on December13th, 2024 into the waiting arms of his two beloved grandsons, Parker and Trey along with multiple family and friends.

Mac was born on August 7th, 1943 in Apple Grove, WV to Bonnie “Mary Jo” Harris and Marion “Pen” McCarty and was a lifelong resident of Mason County. Mac was raised by his maternal grandparents Claude Knott and Nola Casey.

Mac was a graduate of Hannan High School where he was a proud member of the football team and marching band where he marched in the halftime show in his football uniform. Mac was a veteran of the US Navy having served during the Vietnam War and later was a member of the WV National Guard.

Mac retired from Goodyear/Shell after 32 years of employment, he was an avid angler and collector of baseball cards. Mac was a friend to many but a friend of few and never once turned his back on someone in need.

Mac was a devoted Christian and was a member and attended multiple churches over his years of service to his Lord and Savior, most notably Barton Chapel where he and Kay dedicated their life to Christ in 1967 and a longtime member of the Gospel Lighthouse.

Mac leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia Kay Rollins McCarty; his three sons, Earnest, Jr. (Mack) and wife Paula, Nicholas and wife Beth, and Matthew and wife Kari. Mac is also survived by his four grandsons Christian and wife Jordan, Cameron, Connor and Daniel who were his pride and joy along with his three great grandchildren, Elijah, Leighton, and Adalyn. Mac is also survived by his sisters, Joann; and Barbara and her husband Bill, and his beloved niece, Cindy.

Mac was preceded in his final journey home by his parents; his two grandsons; his brother, Roger; and his beloved nephew, Dwight.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Barton Chapel Church in Apple Grove from 1-2 p.m. Following visitation a committal service will be led by Brian Ross, a longtime friend of Mac's. Burial will be in the family plot at Barton Chapel Cemetery immediately following the committal.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant.

The family would like to thank the incredible staff at Pleasant Valley Healthcare Center, each one provided exceptional care and compassion to Mac during his stay at the Center. In lieu of flowers or meals for the family, we are requesting that donations be made to the Activity Department at PVHC for the enjoyment of their resident's in the future in dad’s name.
