Earl Wayne Keister, 63, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Mason Co., died Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Veterans Hospital in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was born February 27, 1946 in Point Pleasant, a son of the late Peter Keister and Garnett (Huffman) Keister. Earl Wayne was a U. S. Army veteran and war hero serving during the Vietnam Era for which he received several medals including a purple heart. He was a 1965 graduate of Point Pleasant High School, and was an employee of the Veterans Clinic in Medical Records. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by maternal grandparents who reared him, Earl and Mattie Huffman; and a sister, Sharon Lee (Keister) Auvil. He was the father of Robert Keister of Columbus, Ohio; grandfather to Zachary Keister and Samantha Keister of Louisville, KY; nephew of Arthur and Judy Huffman of Hilliard, OH, Eddie & Betty Mayes of Point Pleasant, and Hershell and Marilyn Huffman of Gahanna, OH; and also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 27 at the Henderson Church of Christ in Henderson, WV. Private burial will be observed.
